Carnival Elation

Carnival ElationCarnival Elation is a different ship from our first ship (the Holiday, since retired), but is cast from the same mold.  Elation is bigger, newer, and flashier, but what caught my eye was a simple change --- deck seating.

Last year, after we snagged our meals, we went out to sit in the open air on deck, where we could either perch on lounge chairs or plop down on the floor.  The designer of the Elation realized that people like to eat outside and that neither of the Holiday's options was really appropriate, so they added small decks behind and to the sides of the Lido deck restaurant with upright cOutdoor dining on Carnival Elationhairs clustered around patio tables.  This is the perfect place to eat in comfort, or just to write while gazing at the sea.

Our beloved sushi bar and Mongolian wok were also unique to the Elation, I believe, and we thoroughly enjoyed them.  And there were all kinds of cosmetic differences that didn't affect us much, like the atrium in the middle.  Overall, we decided we liked the Elation better, but it was a close call.  I suspect the ship itself doesn't make that much difference as long as you bring a good attitude and are prepared to have fun.
